Well, if I don't have any clients call me, at least I'll know my family will keep me in business! This is my nephew at his wedding in October. What a cute and fun couple they are!! They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. I had never taken pictures there before, and it was so beautiful! Here they are coming out of the Temple Exit.

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!!! Can you believe that the summer is over and dragging your kids out of bed time has begun!? Now is the time to get those great portraits of your "little gems" because they have brand new hair cuts, clothes and backpacks...sigh!

Think about your own child’s school photos for just a minute… sure, there are the occasional ones that turn out “kind of good” or maybe even an exceptional one here or there. Generally, though, the response most parents have to school photos is less than desirable. I believe I heard a friend last year refer to her child’s Fall school portrait with the phrase “this one’s not SO bad“. Did she buy one of the packages offered through the chain photography studio that was hired by the school? You bet she did. You want to know why she did? Guilt. Plain & simple.

I’m a professional photographer and it’s only been a little over a year that I’ve been able to release myself from the guilt of not purchasing my childrens cookie-cutter, fake-smiling, arms-folded-over-the-chest, neon-backdropped school photos. I overcame it. Finally. And thank goodness because it felt pretty ridiculous writing a check to another photographer for something so sub-par, I gotta tell ya.
As a reward to you for making it through this rant (you still with me?), I’m pleased to announce that you, too, can be freed from the grasp of those horrendous depictions of your child.

Call me and schedule your sessions, you'll be glad you did! You'll receive approx. 15 min per child, a ton of different poses and 1 clothing change. Friday September 10th evening on location in Down Town Saint George, or on Saturday morning the 11th, with backdrops. I have a few new ones that are just gorgeous for those head shots!! Our preschool is an academic AND performing arts preschool and we do ages 3 and 4. 3 year olds come on T-TH and 4 year olds come on M-W-F both classes are from 9:30-12.

The classes include advanced academics (above a Kindergarten level once they graduate) and a full Dance class, Music Class, and the 4 year olds also do gymnastics and violin! 3 yr tuition is $125 and the 4 yr tuition is $165.

I am looking for an old vintage looking suitcase (hard) for infant pics and an old upholstered cool looking chair to take out doors and use for portraits. Also, anything you think would be a cute accessory to photo shoots for families, babies, wedding, engagements, etc. I am looking for an old tin tub (bucket) also.

I was so lucky to have the son of the owners of Adams & Co. register their son for my preschool this year. They create the very cute stuff that is sold at Krumpets, Deseret Book and Roberts! I always have so much fun with this family! They are the best! Melanie teaches my kids piano and is a really good friend. Our kids are BFF's with each other too! :-D The little baby, Evey, got hurt right when the lighting was perfect for a family shot, and no matter how much I made a fool of myself, she wouldn't give me a real smile :( When we were finished, we noticed that her foot was bothering her, so we took off her shoe, and then she was happy! By that time the sun had set and it was too late. We'll probably do a retake of the family shot, but don't they have b-e-a-u-tiful kids?

Introducing... Family History Photography

One of my favorite things that my Grandmother left behind after she passed was a tape with her own voice recounting her life. I love being able to listen to her voice and the familiar way she told stories. I wish all of those memories were preserved better, and all in one place. There are not many pictures of her as an older woman, I wish I had more. So I was inspired to create memories for others by introducing a new session I have created with the help and advice from my genius mother.

Family History Sessions:
-Each session includes up to two hours of photographic coverage of your Grandparent, Aunt, Uncle, Mother, Father, or any other significant person to your Family History.
-I will take pictures of them at their own home or favorite place doing what they love to do. For example: baking, sewing, fishing, working in the garage, knitting, or getting out old memorabilia like letterman jackets, old letters, etc.
-I will RECORD THEIR WORDS throughout our session and type up a document for you to have to use in a scrapbook or memory album.

The fee for this session is $250 and it includes the best 50 images taken on a CD for you to print however you choose, and a CD with the audio and text document from the session. Also available is a press printed book designed by me with collages and the text from your Elder for an additional $150.

Portrait Parties!

New portrait party themes!!
I have been brainstorming and have come up with some theme ideas for portrait parties to take us through the end of the year.

First, hear is a little more background on the parties: Get your friends and families together to get professional portraits taken in a laid back setting, your home or location of your choice. The host/hostess receives a free portrait package and additional discounts based on sales from the party. The attendants get to make a reservation to have portraits done with no session fee and no commitment to buy! The requirements to book your party are a guarantee of five and no more than ten families to participate and some space for my mobile studio (if indoors). Each family gets a 15 min block of time scheduled just for them.

I will be coming up with theme ideas for each month. However, you are welcome to come up with your own. Upcoming themes are:

Celebrate Fall: Outdoor party. Why take Fall portraits inside a stuffy studio with fake leaves and plastic pumpkins when you can get your Fall pictures done outside in the fresh air and leaves! Pick a spot with lots of colorful foliage and get your friends together for a fun day celebrating the season.

It's not too early to begin thinking about the holidays. Beautiful holiday cards and gifts can be made from your session, so take a chunk off your seasonal to-do list and get everything done at once! Here are this year's holiday themes:

A Peek of Santa: Inside party. Do you hate trucking everyone to the mall each year for Santa portraits only to face long lines and scared or grumpy kids? Take the stress out of meeting Santa when you put on the costume yourself. Your little ones will be happy to hold hands and give hugs to the big guy when it is you playing the role. Only your costumed midsection and hands will be included in the pics. Great for newborns and babies!

Fireside Families: Inside party. (fireplace setting required) Take your holiday Christmas portraits in front of the warmth and crackle of the fire. Great for the entire family! BYOS: Bring your stockings to hang on the mantle to further personalize your portrait.

Waiting up for Santa: Inside party. Get your little ones dressed up in their special holiday pj's for a portrait done while waiting up to sneak a peak of the man in red. (I know I'm not the only one that gets a special pair of Christmas pj's for my kids every year!) The setting will include a Christmas tree, armchair and side table complete with milk and cookies. Your little ones will be "waiting up" while reading a favorite Christmas story. Feel free to bring some special ornaments to hang on the tree to further personalize your portraits.
